About the Author

Heather Summers is a writer, educator, and advocate dedicated to helping others navigate life’s challenges through authentic storytelling, education, and personal growth. Her work centers on resilience, healing, and discovering purpose through life’s most complex seasons. Through both her writing and teaching, Heather strives to create meaningful connections that empower others to grow, heal, and succeed.

Heather is a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certified educator and serves as the Secondary Education Coordinator for a local school district in West Virginia, where she supports instructional leadership, curriculum development, and student achievement initiatives across the district. She holds four degrees, including a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Digital Media, New Literacies, and Learning, a Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Mathematics, a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. She has spent over a decade teaching a wide range of mathematics courses, from foundational support classes to advanced honors coursework, both in traditional classrooms and online learning environments. Her academic background and professional experience allow her to approach learning and storytelling with both analytical insight and emotional depth.

Beyond the classroom, Heather has contributed to curriculum development, data-driven instructional improvement, and statewide educational initiatives. She has served in leadership roles including faculty senate vice president, curriculum team member, department chair, and statewide mathematics curriculum contributor. Her work has focused heavily on supporting both student success and teacher development, always grounded in her belief that strong relationships are the foundation of effective education.

Heather is the author of Navigating Coparenting and is currently writing her upcoming book, The Promise Process: Planting, Pruning, and Purpose. Her writing draws from personal experiences and explores themes of faith, perseverance, emotional healing, and growth through adversity. She is passionate about sharing real-life journeys that encourage readers to find strength and clarity within their own stories.

Heather’s mission is to use her experiences to help others facing similar circumstances. From a young age, she aspired to become a teacher and has learned that the most impactful educators are those who individualize their approach to meet each person’s unique needs. She lives by the philosophy, “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,” and strives to reflect that belief in both her writing and her daily interactions with others.

When she is not writing or teaching, Heather enjoys spending time with her loved ones, traveling, volunteering within her community, and expressing creativity through painting and artistic projects.
